When the official LEGO CR7 Legends set dropped during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, there was one window to make something worth making. Everything is Multiverse 2 is a minute and a half animated short built in Cinema 4D, where CR7 breaks free from his LEGO set, kicks a ball through the LEGO multiverse, and the journey ends on a brick-accurate recreation of the official FIFA 2026 tunnel logo animation.
In Motion
Key Moments - Stills
Skin and Bones - Rigging and Animation
Instructions from the CR7 Legends LEGO set was used to build it brick by brick in Mecabricks. The custom parts were modeled in Cinema 4D.
Instead of hand-animating a LEGO character from zero, a motion capture retargeting system was built in Cinema 4D that maps any Mixamo animation directly onto a custom CR7 rig. Bake. Posterize. The posterize animation tag creates the LEGO Movie stepped timing. Slightly mechanical, expressive but distinctly LEGO.
A IK rig was created for stills and custom animation when necessary.

The Wall-E model was rigged with IK and simple parent constraints. The rig was created with specific pre planned functions and had limited functionality, but did the job splendidly for the motion needed.
Honorable Mention - LEGO Bat Tumbler Car Rig.
Here is a small motion test of the Car Rig and dynamics in action.

The Magic - Particle Simulations and Dynamics
X-Particles' Nexus tools for fluid and granular sims were leveraged to create particle simulations for the LEGO Fire extinguisher foam and Dr.Strange's portal sparks. The Age, Velocity and Rotation parameters were used in conjunction with C4D User Data to art direct the look of the particles.
Just Keep Swimming- Animation, Shading and Lighting Progress
The animation, shading and lighting for this short all progressed in tandem. Due to time constraints all these aspects were developed to compliment each other. This was the most fun but also the hardest part of the project.
Let Him Cook - Edit and Sound Design
From day one the animatic lived in Premiere, it was treated like a production tool, identifying roadblocks and finding the most efficient visual solution. The shot duration and camera context could be changed, you could even min-max the impact of the visuals.
It helped resolve the interplay between digital cinematography and visual output. The back and forth between software packages may seem inefficient ( it was not ), but it helped me focus on specific issues and deliver on time.
I come from a background in sound engineering and broadcast mixing. That changes how you think about audio in animation. The sound is designed to be a companion to the piece. Sometimes it steps back. Sometimes it steps forward and leads. Every transition, every impact, every moment of silence is a decision.
A great sound mix can make average animation feel cinematic. A bad one can undo great animation entirely.
