A playful fusion of practical effects and digital craft,
Lemonsplosion is a motion design experiment and personal project where the ordinary lemon was pushed into extraordinary territory. The project combines 3D animation, 3D-printed elements, and practical cinematography to create a cinematic miniature blast — all staged in my own living room.
I wanted to take the familiar “when life gives you lemons” idea and flip it into something bold, tactile, and explosive. I used the footage from my recent travels to Cinque Terre in Italy to achieve that. I was inspired by the bright lemon soap you might chance upon in a souvenir shop in the region.

I leveraged the depth map I created from the footage to craft a seamless transition from my living room to Cinque Terre, using a mix of displacement map methods and depth-based compositing techniques.
